To Our Friends and Colleagues:

Thank you all for your continuing support of the Boston Corporate Finance Community (BCFC) Gathers to Give Back event!  We are excited to announce the fifth annual cocktail and industry networking reception will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport. In addition to celebrating our long-term partnership with More Than Words (MTW), we will honor the legacy of Bob Barry, a highly respected attorney and colleague in our community, whose life and career ended too soon with his passing in 2020.

When we established this event in 2018, our objective was to create a premier networking event while supporting MTW, an exceptional non-profit social enterprise that empowers the most vulnerable and disadvantaged youth through a job training and development program and teaches them life-changing skills that provide a path to self-sufficiency.

We had no idea how successful this initiative would become. Since the inaugural event in 2018, our community has contributed more than $1,200,000 to MTW, funding expanded business operations and allowing the organization to serve more youth and provide additional resources and support.  As MTW noted in its 2022 Annual Report “we grew to be even more and do even more.  We are very grateful to BCFC for its tremendous support of our organization.”

Our 2023 honoree is Bob Barry.  Bob was a partner in Morgan Lewis’ finance practice.  He was a deeply accomplished lawyer in the retail finance community with over 30 years of experience.  Bob was often at the cutting edge in structuring asset-based lending (ABL) credit facilities and resolving distressed credits, and lenders consistently sought out his practical, solution-oriented advice. Born in Brooklyn, Bob earned his BA degree in Economics from Haverford College in Pennsylvania and his JD degree from Villanova University School of Law.

He was beloved by his wife Maria, his sons, AJ and Jack, his siblings and extended family, many friends and his colleagues at Morgan Lewis as well as his clients throughout the ABL community. As an athlete, an avid Boston sports fan, a tech geek and a voracious reader known for sending the best holiday cards, we miss the energy he brought to every room.

Please join us on October 26 at the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport for a cocktail-style reception to celebrate our work community, our partnership with MTW and the life of Bob Barry.
